Greetings from the Inventor | Portable Shower Chair
Welcome to GO! Mobility Solutions. I’m Rick and I invented the Go Anywhere® Portable Shower Chair line. Why did I invent it? Because I had to!
During the 32 years since my injury, traveling anywhere for more than two days posed serious problems. On short trips I could stuff my non portable shower chair into my van. Although I could usually get my chair over a toilet, rarely did I have access to a roll-in shower. I grew wary of the embarrassment from having a porter push my potty chair through parking lots and fancy hotel lobbies. I’m sure that you’ve discovered they are not easy to disguise. When my travel plans required air travel, forget it; No way could I take a "non" portable shower chair. I traveled infrequently and only when I had to. As you will see, that no longer need be the case!
For years I searched for a practical, affordable device to solve my problem. About 7 or 8 years ago I purchased a "portable shower chair" off the internet for about $600. Constructed of painted rectangular steel tubing and plastic, it wasn't worth the poop meant to go through it. It rusted; it weighed a ton and was unbearable to sit in. Furthermore it was extremely unsafe. At a local welding shop I had it re-engineered to the point where it was safe and 'almost' comfortable, but it remained heavy and clumsy and it leaked rusty water everywhere after use. I decided that if the problem was to be solved, I would have to be the one to solve it. Necessity, once again, would mother invention.
With the assistance of an engineer from the Mars Pathfinder Science Team holding doctorate degrees from Harvard and MIT, I set out to design a portable shower chair that would be safe, lightweight, compact, comfortable, portable AND easy to assemble without any tools. We succeeded. The portable shower chair worked great; so great that some of my friends wanted one too. The next thing I knew, I was UNretired and into a new career in manufacturing.
I invented this potable shower chair because a piping hot shower every day, no matter where I happen to be, at home OR on the road, is a luxury I would not want to live without. When I don't shower in the morning, leg and abdominal spasms cause me misery all day long. It's also nice to be able to go to the bathroom when and where you're supposed to and not otherwise! :o
Because our abominable health care system will not pay for “personal care” items, I resolved to design the Go-Anywhere portable shower chair to be affordable as well, without sacrificing quality or durability. It is my hope that GO! Mobility Solutions can begin a new trend, setting an example proving that decent healthcare can be affordable. The Go-Anywhere portable shower chair has changed my life; It WILL change your life too!
